Aims of the workshop
Domain
Specific Modelling (DSM) is a term used to cover a field of software
development technologies whose aims are to improve the quality,
efficacy and economic viability of development through the use of
tailored modelling languages and their associated tooling. The
languages may be graphical, textual or a mixture of both. The languages
may be used at any point in the development process from requirements
capture, specification and design, through to implementation,
deployment, maintenance and reverse engineering.
DSM aims to abstract away from the details of implementation by providing scope for translation of designs into implementations and for direct execution of designs, thereby protecting commercial assets from externally imposed changes in technology platforms. In addition DSM aims to provide representations that match concepts from vertical application domains thereby making designs easier to define and maintain by engineers whose primary expertise lies outside Software Engineering.
Services Computing provides an opportunity for many aspects of a business to be modelled and analysed. This includes business processes, quality of service, security, business motivation and business rules. Services Computing is a relatively new field and implementation technology is changing rapidly. The DSM approach is an ideal approach to address the wide variety of vertical applications areas and to address the issue of changing technology.
The ADSEC Workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the area of Services Computing and Domain Specific Modelling in order to provide a forum where recent research results can be presented and discussed and where the current challenges can be developed to inform a research roadmap for the area.
